Welcome Summer Juniors

Spray Beach Yacht Club has a long and proud history of teaching young people to sail. Our sailing program began with sons and daughters of club members and we now extend the opportunity to members of the community, as space permits. Children joining this program are “SUMMER JUNIORS.”

Summer Juniors are able to join our Weekday Sailing Program*. They may enter at any experience level from complete novice to experienced racer.

Summer Junior sailors are recognized as official Junior Members of SBYC and are invited to participate in all junior activities, junior fundraisers and other junior program sponsored events. We offer tennis, swimming and pay-as-you-go activities on some Fridays during the summer. A favorite is our annual kayak trip on the Wading River. Some Friday activities, including water-based activities, will require the participation of a parent or guardian. What is not included in a Summer Junior membership is access to club grounds when your child is not participating in junior sailing activities or junior activities.

We welcome you to experience our beautiful club through this program. Our goal is solid instruction with a focus on the basics, safety, fun and developing a lifelong love of sailing. Lessons are progressively more challenging, with boating games and fun too. Work toward the ultimate, join our exceptional racing team and test the waters of clubs along the Jersey coast and beyond!

*Weekend Duck and Warrior programs are for club members only
